Sisters #AtoZChallenge Day 19

Suddenly every memory they created together all these 18 years seemed like a mirage.

Mirage was the only way one could describe the cruel illusion of misleading contentment that causes eventual heart break in unassuming travelers. She felt that same ache of intense disappointment , like shattered illusions . But only after the clouds wander off does one see the clear blue skies.

And she could see everything so clearly now.

She’d always looked up to her . Her elder sister. Even treasured her hand-me-downs like through those books or clothes , a little bit of her much admired wisdom would flow down to her . But if her parents were to be believed that never happened.

As her sister gathered the best of whatever there was. All through her school days , right until now , when wedding was on the cards. She really was born with the proverbial  silver spoon &  got more than she deserved or was ever capable of . And all this could be attributed to just one reason.

One occurrence that changed their fates , 21 years back. When they got her in her home.

Her home. Her parents . Her life changed forever when her sister – an orphan , her roots unknown was adopted by them.

Her sister was the hand me down. She was the one who was out of place and she was the one who was now getting married to her best friend.

She had to do something to change the fates again. Her sister came out of no where and took over their life. It was time that she went back into the same oblivion.

She picked up the phone and dialed the number and spoke in her sternest tone.

Hello, I have got your number from a trusted source. I have a job for you. When can we meet to discuss it?”

She was almost finished with the conversation when she heard the knock at the door . Her sister stepped in , slightly flushed.

Listen , we need to talk about this. I have no idea whom to talk to. I know whatever happens things will never change between is. We may not have the same parents but you will always be my little sister” she looked at her inquiringly .

Things were not the same between them anymore.

  1. Did she call up some killer-on-hire or something? ?
It’s always a thing that worries parents: At what age to reveal to the children that they are not brothers/sisters in blood. But I must say, 18 years was really too much. Maybe if they had spoken earlier, the whole situation could have been avoided?

But it’s a sad story. I support the sister who wanted to talk things out, and insisted that nothing should change between them. I do hope that the younger sister had some sense and listened to her!

    1. Fab, I don’t know who she called.. but I think they avoided ‘the conversation ‘ till the adopted girls wedding..
I guess that was the breaking point for the younger sis who was always told to follow elder’s footsteps ..
Good to see you supporting one of the characters who so far exist in my imagination 🙂 am happy you felt so invested in the story .. feels good!!

  2. What a story CM ?
I loved the twist in this one after all the protagonists doing the right things in your earlier stories.
The parents seem to have neglected the sibling rivalry for way too long to lead to such a dangerous turn in their lives.
